Laurie was a faithful member of First Christian Church and proud 1978 Elizabethtown High School graduate.
She worked as a dedicated employee for Baptist Health Hardin cardiology for 37 years, where she was named Regional Employee of the Year in 2024. Her kindness, compassion, and commitment to helping others left a lasting impact on patients and all who had the pleasure of working with her.
She always looked forward to helping plan the EHS class of 1978 reunions. This allowed her to utilize her gifts of organizing, serving others, and socializing. Laurie was outgoing, but also enjoyed solitude by sitting on her back porch or being by the water. In her spare time she enjoyed trips to the beach, creating floral arrangements from her garden, baking, going to rock concerts, shopping for the best deals, and most of all, spending time with her friends and family. Her favorite title was “Lolli” to her grandchildren, and she was the absolute best.
She approached everything in life with integrity, determination, and her unique wit that will be greatly missed. This was especially true throughout her cancer journey, as she fought every single day with both grace and courage. She remained faithful until the very end, clinging to the promises of scripture and putting her hope in Christ. There are no words to describe the void that her absence has left behind, but we are comforted knowing she is now in her eternal, heavenly home. Her legacy will live on, reminding us to live each day with honesty, intentionality, and complete trust in The Lord.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Kean and Nan Jenkins; brother, Doug Jenkins; and nephew, Adam Ricketts.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 34 years, Mike Sallee; daughter, Jenna Mitchell (Caleb); grandsons, Barrett and Braxton Mitchell; sister, Leslie Ricketts (Johnny); and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Visitation for Laurie will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 3pm – 8pm at Brown Funeral Home, 306 College Street, Elizabethtown, KY 42701.
