

Robert “Rob” Vincent Tulpa, age 78, of Elk Rapids, formerly of Redford passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at his home. He was born October 6, 1933 in Chicago to Louis and Martha (Nesson) Tulpa. After high school, Rob was drafted into the US Army and proudly served his country for 2 year during the Korean War. He was a member of the 7th Infantry and fought at Pork Chop Hill.
Once he was honorably discharged, Rob returned home and married his love Jan Stacey on June 11, 1955. Together they raised 3 children. Rob retired from Coca Cola after 47 years of service. After Jan’s retirement, they moved to Elk Rapids to enjoy northern Michigan and all its beauty.
Rob enjoyed fishing, woodworking, bird watching, cooking, and gardening. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and nothing made him happier than spending time with his grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years: Jan, Children: Robert (Jamie) Tulpa of Whitmore Lake, Dennis (Karen) Tulpa of Redford, and Susan (Keith) Weekley of Rapid City; 10 Grandchildren: Jennifer and Matt Tulpa, Abbey Claffey, Dennis, Katie, and Brian Tulpa, Kelsey, Keene, Kendyl, and Kyler Weekley; 2 brothers: Louis (Sharon) Tulpa and Gerald (Linda) Tulpa, many nieces, nephews, and grand dogs Sophie and Duncan.
Besides his parents, Rob was preceded in death by a sister: Wanda Tulpa.
A visitation will be held Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids. A funeral will be held Friday, August 3, 2012 at 2 p.m. also at the funeral home. Per Rob’s wishes cremation will follow his services.
