Born March 9, 1961 in Seoul, South Korea, Aesook was the youngest of 6 children of Young Gu Kim and Gu Young Jung. She graduated from Dongguk University in 1984 with a BA in English Literature and worked as an editor at Samsung Publishing before marrying Kangmin Suh in 1989. They lived in Seoul where daughters, Seunghee and Seungeop, were born and then moved to the United States in 1998. She is survived by her husband and daughters.
When Aesook started her family, she decided to dedicate her life to being a wonderful and kind wife and mother. She was the foundation of the Suh family, constantly supporting and taking care of her loved ones. She motivated Seunghee to pursue her love of storytelling and photography and always encouraged Seungeop to be confident and courageous in everything she pursued. She was immensely proud of her daughters.
A connoisseur of the arts and style, Aesook loved traveling around the world with her family. Her favorite destinations included: Paris, France; Vienna, Austria; Rome, Italy; Tokyo, Japan; and Kauai and Honolulu, Hawaii. She enjoyed visiting her daughters in New York City, spending her afternoon at a café with an espresso and her evening at the ballet. She loved fashion and design, and always dressed impeccably and ahead of the style for every occasion. Her warmth, dedication and love for beauty in life will be deeply missed.
The Suh family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the loved ones who have provided support and comfort during this difficult time.
A funeral service for Aesook will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at MMP, Inc., 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075, followed by a visitation from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
