On May 1, 2022 Alvin Washington Long, Jr. passed away at the age of 89. Alvin was the beloved husband of Doris Long; devoted father of Billy Long (the late Debbie), Nancy Loebig, Laura Kolb (Ronald Johnson), Darlene Decinti (Marco) and step-father of Diane Swoboda (Greg), Connie Groer (the late John), Mark Daugherty (Brenda) and the late Richard and David Daugherty (the late Kathy); dear brother of the late Mary Ward; loving grandfather of Kelli Long, Dereck Zeller, Danielle and Alyssa Kolb, Nicholas Campbell (Lindsay), Christopher Campbell and Destini Decinti; step-grandfather of Weston Hedrick (Heather), Chelsea Hedrick, Alexis Swoboda, Tammy Werneke (Keith), Mark Halcombe, Rebecca Lloyd (Thomas), Lucas Daugherty (Amanda), Brandon Daugherty, Jenny Kaukonen (Eric), Richard Siguenza (Armie Caasi) and the Bradley Daugherty and Richard Daugherty, 2nd; cherished great-grandfather of Aaden and Kaylee Mosser, Callie, Nicholas and Madalen Campbell and step-great-grandfather of Andrew Kaukonen, Sawyer, Lincoln and Eli Lloyd, Wyatt Daugherty, Rilee, Emilee, Lilee and Kailee Caasi, Haley and Aubrie Hendrick, Jaxon Sompayrac and Conrad Kreuter.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc. 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Maryland 21075 (Exit 6 South off Route 100) on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00pm and 6:00 – 8:00pm where a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 11:00am. Interment Meadowridge Memorial Park.
