Esther Mae Payne Tranby of The Villages, FL passed away surrounded by her family just hours after returning to Maryland to visit her family on February 29, 2024. She was born in Loudoun County, VA to Iva and Forrest Payne, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Mardell Vincent Tranby.
She is survived by her 3 children, Tracy Tranby Eckert, Edwin Vincent Tranby (Jane Tranby), Michael Andrew Tranby (Lesley A. Tranby), 9 grandchildren & 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Nancy Payne. She is preceded in death by siblings Helen Dotson, Arthur Payne, Forrest Payne Jr, William Payne Sr, Catherine Breeden, Rebecca Lamm, Emma French & Mary Francis Jack.
Esther was an Office Manager for a security firm for over 30 years.
She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in the Villages, FL where she was an “Altar Angel” preparing the “table” for Holy Communion and Home Communion Kits to carry the Sacrament to members who were unable to attend worship.
She along with her late husband Mardell were Charter Members of the Lake Sumter Lions Club. Esther was an active member of the club until her death.
She was an avid card & dominoes player, enjoying life with her “second family,” close & dear Villager friends that all looked out for each other.
Esther lived a full life filled with love of family, friends & service to God.
A celebration of Life will be held at a date TBD. Esther’s Final Resting Place will be alongside her husband Mardell at The Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
