George Washington Sewell, age 72, of Elkridge, Maryland passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. George served his country in the United States Army. He was a mentor and loved coaching softball. During football season, you could find him rooting for the Washington Redskins. Along with being a sports fan, George was very talented as a painter. But when he was off the field and not painting, he made sure he was always looking sharp. George will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Beloved husband of Barbara. Loving father of his son Jermaine, his daughter-in-law Rasheeka and his five step-children. Cherished brother of Walter, Alisa, Richard, Frank, and the late Margaret and the late Lynette. Devoted grandfather of Jameeka, Amina, Khalil, Kylah, Jaylen, and 13 step-grandchildren. George is also survived by his great-grandchild Jayce, close family friend Alex, and many other loving family and friends. George is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Lula.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc. 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Maryland 21075 (Exit 6 South off Route 100) on Sunday, July 11, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and 5:00pm until the start of A Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 6:00pm. A committal service and interment will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery at 11:30am.
