Shane Allen O’Brien, age 30, of Severna Park, Maryland passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020. Beloved son of Patrick and Deborah O’Brien. Dear brother of Michele Curry and Michael O’Brien. Cherished uncle of Kayla, Olivia and Cooper. Shane is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a loving Godfather. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Lottie Renee (Nanny) Meiler, James (Poppie) and Catherine (Nana) O’Brien, and 3 cousins. Shane adored his many cousins and they reciprocated the affection. They treated each other as if, or even better, than typical brothers and sisters.
When Shane was age 4, he was introduced to organized soccer. He continued playing and loving the game for many seasons. Shane enjoyed listening to classic rock music. He would not only listen to bands, such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Styx, Aerosmith, and Queen, just to name a few. In addition to their songs, he knew the members of the bands and their history. Even though he did not know how to swim, Shane joined the Chartridge community swim team. Many years later, his hard work and skills paid off when he became a certified lifeguard. In Tae Kwon Do, Shane advanced from the beginning white belt through the many colored belts steps to ultimately earn his 1st Degree Black Belt. Shane enjoyed playing online gaming, including the War of Warcraft and Among Us games. His gaming also allowed him to meet and become friends with the other gamers across the country. Shane got some of his greatest sense of joy from being an uncle to his nieces and nephew. He enjoyed his time playing on the beach at family vacations with Cooper & Olivia and working alongside Kayla baking danishes and croissants at a professional bakery.
In passing, some of Shane’s organs were extracted with the intent to improve the lives of others. As of November 9, 2020, 3 persons in need are now benefitting from Shane’s generosity.
