With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of William Ashley Pickett, Jr., who departed from us at the age of 67, on April 17, 2024. William's life was one of profound dedication, service, and boundless positivity. William is survived by his Devoted Wife of 44 years, Dyane.
William had an impressive career spanning 27.5 years in the U.S. Army, where he served as a decorated Military Intelligence Senior Non-Commissioned Officer. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and his contributions to the military community were invaluable. Throughout his service, William exemplified resilience, leadership, and a dedication to duty.
Beyond his military achievements, he also attained his Bachelors in Business Management and his Master of Business Administration degrees. William was known for his infectious optimism and vibrant personality. He had an innate ability to find the silver lining in every situation, lifting the spirits of those around him with his upbeat demeanor and cheerful outlook on life. His quick wit and charming presence made him a joy to be around.
William's capacity for love and generosity knew no bounds. He was a devoted husband of 44 years, cherishing every moment spent with his beloved wife. His love extended to his children and grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure. Family was paramount to William, and he cherished every opportunity to offer guidance, support, and unwavering affection to those he held dear.
In his leisure time, William enjoyed listening to Prince, jazz, and P-Funk. He had a penchant for shopping, particularly indulging in his love for footwear, cologne, and clothes. A lively conversationalist, William enjoyed engaging in meaningful discussions and cherished moments spent in conversation with loved ones, both in person and over the phone.
William is survived by his Devoted Wife of 44 years, Dyane Pickett; Beloved Children Rachelle Tyler and David (Dhara) Pickett; Loving Mother, Annie P. Thornton; Dear Siblings, Ann Kelley, Sheree Pickett-Jones, Elvira Pickett-Ross, Avis Pickett, and Edna Pickett; Cherished Grandchildren, Keith Tyler, Keiara Tyler, Kevon Tyler, Mariah Roundtree, Diamond Pickett, Darious Pickett, Xavier Pickett, Nicole Pickett, William A. Pickett, IV, Ashley Pickett, David Pickett, II, and Donovan Pickett; Cherished Great-Grandchildren Lauren Richardson, McKennly Tyler, JaiYir Lougin and Amiri Lougin; along with a myriad of nieces and nephews. William is predeceased by his Father, William A. Pickett, Sr.; Beloved Son, William A. Pickett, III; and Dear Sister, Audrey Waddell.

A visitation for William will be held Monday, April 29, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075. An interment will occur Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Maryland Veteran Cemetery Crownsville, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, MD 21032.
