

Laura A. (Dearing) Wood, 86 of Ellensburg, passed away at home with her family on January 27, 2013. Laura was born February 18, 1926, to Evans and Lillian (Watson) Dearing. She was the first of six children in the family, and lived in the Kittitas Valley her entire life. Laura graduated from Kittitas High School in 1944 and from Central Washington College of Education in 1948, with a bachelor degree in education.
On December 21, 1947, Laura married Warren G. Wood, a union that lasted sixty-five years and the raising of three children. She loved to cook, garden, read, travel and best of all spend time with her grandchildren and more recently great grandchildren.
Laura is survived by her husband Warren, children Lauren Hanson (Wayne), Jeff Wood (Terry), and Lynnette Wood. Four grandchildren, Bill Hanson (Aimee), Shale Wood (Melissa), Crystal Wood, Alexandria Wood and three great grandchildren. Laura is also survived by her sister Mary Howard of Wenatchee and her brother John Dearing of CleElum. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers; Jim, Jack and Darrel Dearing.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice and special nurse, Bonnie Gibson. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice Friends in care of Steward & Williams Tribute Center.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 9th at the Kittitas Community Church at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow at the American Legion in Ellensburg.
