David Cwiekowski

Dave was born in New Britain, Connecticut to Eugene and Helen Cwiekowski on August 20, 1947. He attended Pulaski High School graduating in 1965, and later enrolled at University of Connecticut before enlisting in the US Army in 1969. He honorably served in Vietnam and was decorated with several medals, including the Bronze Star medal.

After completing his bachelor’s degree in accounting at UConn in 1972, it led him to his forever job at Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association. His career with MPIUA spanned decades until his well earned retirement in 2014.

Throughout his life, Dave was known for his quiet strength, serious yet quick-witted nature, and his calm, caring presence that brought comfort to those around him. Dave had a deep love for horse racing, sports betting, UConn basketball and was happiest spending relaxed days by the beach or with family. His passion for these simple joys reflected his appreciation for life’s steady rhythm and his ability to find peace in the moment.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Helen Cwiekowski. He is survived by his loving life partner, Beni Barrett, his daughter, Valerie, son, Daniel, bonus son, Chad, granddaughter, Emily, grandson, Ryan and bonus grandson, Dax, along with several nieces and nephews.

No services are planned until the warmer months arrive in Massachusetts, when friends and family will gather to celebrate Dave’s life.
