

Oakley Donald Binck, beloved husband, father, and Pop Pop, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 66 on February 23, 2011 in Isla Roatan, Honduras while enjoying his 26th cruise with his wife of 38 years, Kathy (Somich).
He was born in Troy, New York to the late Oakley and Ruth (Andersen) Binck. The family lived in Granville for nine years until Don was a Junior in High School. The family moved and Don graduated from Auburn, New York East High School. Don looked forward to his 50th class reunion in 2012. He had many friends in the Granville High School Class of 1962.
Don was a Veteran of the US Air Force and enjoyed telling stories of his 18 months in Pakistan. He was a member of the American Legion Post 325 in Ellenton, Florida and a member of VFW Post 1653 in Granville, New York. He was Past President of the Granville Lions Club and Past President of the Ellenton-Parrish Lions Club, and a Melvin Jones Fellow.
Don happily resided at Veranda Springs in Parrish, Florida for the past 11 years after retiring from St. Gobain in Granville. Don worked part time for Kitchen Collection at Prime Outlets for the past 11 years. Don enjoyed traveling, reading a good book, and playing cards with his many friends at Veranda Springs. Don is survived by his wife and best friend Kathy, his daughter Karen Baker and her husband Beecher of Queensbury, New York, their children, Ryan Woodard, Chase, Catie and Beecher Baker. He is also survived by his brother Kim Binck of Ocean View, Delaware, his sister Judy Sullivan of West Chester, Pennsylvania, his sisters-in-law and their husbands, Kris and Dan Morris, Sue and Geoff King and their families as well as his mother-in-law Katie Somich. Don was a loving and kind man and will be missed dearly by those who loved him.
In honor of his wishes, Don will be cremated. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Middle Granville, New York at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Mansion Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Ellenton.
