He was born January 15, 1960, in Atlanta, Georgia to Wyman Hannaford and Ira Hannaford, who preceded him in death.
Rex graduated from Tallulah Falls High School in 1978, attended Mercer University, and graduated from the Florida Law Enforcement Academy in 1986. He had a career in law enforcement serving at the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and the Palmetto Police Department. Rex retired in 2013 as Deputy Chief.
Rex was member of First Baptist Church of Palmetto.
Survivors include his wife, Terri Edwards Hannaford, son, Kane Hannaford (Jessica), grandson, William Hannaford, granddaughter, Harper Hannaford, brother, Cody Hannaford (Sue), sister-in-law, Pam Deans, sister-in-law, Peggy Witt (Ron), niece, Kasey Barkley (Tim), niece, Trista Koenizseder (Casey), nephew, Trent Deans, nephew, Greg Witt (Brandi), niece, Sarah Ameres (Michael), great nieces and nephews, Ellie, Chloe, Willa, Remi Rose, Anna, Natalia, Ethan, and Blake.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 1st at 12 PM, with service to follow at 1 PM, at First Baptist Church of Palmetto, 1020 4th Street W., Palmetto, Florida, with Pastor Phillip Hamm officiating.
Interment will follow at Mansion Memorial Park, Ellenton, Florida.
