

Richard C. Birkholz Went home on September 26th after 74 well-lived years. He was a cherished husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and loyal friend. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; sister, Betty (Will); children, Cindy, C. Richard (Heather), and Carrie (Steve); grandchildren, Corey, Cassie, Hailey and Grace; niece, Becky (Pat); nephews, Tom (Camille), and Joel; great-nephews David, Matthew, and Ben; and great-nieces Jessica and Riley. After his proud service as a Marine in Okinawa, Afghanistan, and Israel, he spent 25 years as a cross country truck driver, and then 28 years as a residential real estate appraiser. He was very active in the Hernando DeSoto Historical Society and the Manatee-Sunrise Kiwanis Club, where he was heavily involved in the Kids Against Hunger project. As a Kiwanian he dearly loved playing Santa for the Toys for Tots drive and making thousands of Kiwanis corndogs each year at the county fair. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 3rd at noon, with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial, 1400 Ellenton-Gillette Road, E., Ellenton, FL In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome in his name to Kids Against Hunger, c/o Manatee-Sunrise Kiwanis Club, P.O.
