Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend, Rosemary McClellan, 85 years old, born February 9, 1935 peacefully passed away on October 14, 2020. She was born in Ellenton, Florida the youngest daughter of the late Dock and Rosetta Pollard. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Julius McClellan and the second love of her life, Edmund McKinney, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her beloved siblings: Ret. LTC. David E. Pollard, Sr., Julia Lee Pollard Burke, Pastor Dock Pollard, Jr., Annie Jackson, Mattie Thomas and James Pollard. Rose attended school in Manatee County. Harboring a strong sense of independence, she made the decision to leave home for a better way of life and traveled to New York. In her own words, “I did not want to pick tomatoes”. In New York, she met her husband Julius. They enjoyed travelling to places like the Catskill Mountains. They relocated to Miami in the early 1960s. While in Miami, she worked briefly as a private duty nurse. Later, she worked as a Foster Grandparent with preschoolers at Bethune and Carrie Meek Learning Center in Miami Dade County. She really enjoyed working with and nurturing the young students. Rosemary loved her family and always wanted the best for everyone. She touched the lives of many people. She was a woman with a lively personality, which earned her the nickname “Queen Bee”. She has a zest for life and enjoyed meeting new people. She was a woman of wisdom willing to share her knowledge and experiences of the life she lived. Rosemary had a great fashion sense always dressed impeccably. As a widow with two daughters, she epitomized a woman of strength and independence always doing what she could to ensure that her daughters were well taken care of. In her later years, she continued to be the “life of the party”, always smiling and dancing to music bringing joy to others at the Miami Jewish Home where she was honored as the Queen of the Thanksgiving Day Parade. Now, Heaven has gained another angel. She will always be remembered as a Queen and a woman of VIBRANCE, JOY and GREAT STRENGTH. Her beautiful life will be forever cherished by her (Daughters), April McClellan and Wanda McKinney, (Brother) Johnny Wesley Pollard, (Sisters) Fannie Pollard-Johnson, Ella Myles (Earl), (Granddaughters) Ciara and Jade Hutchins, and a host of Nephews, Nieces, Great Nephews and Great Nieces, and Cousins. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones.
