Donald Edward Hayes

HAYES, Donald Edward, 92, of Middletown passed away peacefully Monday, February 16, 2015. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years Gerry (nee Lewis) Hayes in 1995, his parents Claire Benjamin and Alice (nee Hilliard) Hayes, his brother James Hayes, and sister Martha Wright. Donald is survived by his four children and their spouses Cheryl and Mike Oxner, Richard and Jackie Hayes, Ronald Hayes and his wife Mary Concilio, Elizabeth and Todd Bauer. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, Michelle (Jon) Marshall and their children Noah, Luke and Drew; Jeff (Brooke) Oxner and their son Owen; Megan (Norman) Rivera and their daughter Eloise; Lilly Hayes, Sydney, Connor and Jacob Bauer. Don was a US Army Air Corps Veteran serving in WW II, a 1941 graduate of Monroe High School, a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Miami University with a degree in Mathematics. He was a lifelong employee in the Research Department of Armco retiring in 1982, and a member of the Middletown Post of the American Legion. A memorial service and inurnment of Don's cremains was held Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Woodside Cemetery Mausoleum in Middletown.
