

Jerry Harmon as everyone new him was born to Ralph and Florian Harmon on January 15, 1925 in Los Angeles, CA. He grew up with his brother Hugh (Sonny) on Holt Street in LA. Jerry was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts.
Jerry went to Hamilton High School & played football. He then went to USC at which he studied Architecture. He served in the Air Force during WW II. Upon his return he married his High School sweetheart Betty Guenther in 1947 and they had 3 children Karen and twins, Kenneth and Kristine. They lived in the Baldwin Hills, CA in a house designed by Jerry.
Jerry began working for Guenther-Langer Buick and worked his way up to General Manager. Eventually he purchased the dealership to form Jerry Harmon Buick of the Crenshaw area of Los Angeles. He had a full and successful business life in which he was a member and president of the Crenshaw area Kiwanis. Jerry was also a 32nd degree Mason at the Crenshaw Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Escondido Elks Lodge.
Jerry and Betty traveled frequently to exciting places such Africa, Scotland, Ireland, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska and throughout the United States. They joined the Power Squadron and traveled in their 32’ Bayliner to Canada. Jerry was Commander of his Power Squadron Chapter. One of their favorite places to vacation was their house on Catalina Island where they spent summers with the family fishing, skiing and playing in the Avalon sun and surf.
Hobbies Jerry enjoyed were fishing, gardening and canning its bounty, stained glass work, reading OZ books, square dancing, cars and tinkering with everything, building 2 boats from scratch, water and snow skiing, camping , mountain hiking and fishing with family in both the mountains and oceans. He also enjoyed sharing his scotch with his doggies Kuchen and Cinder. His quiet personality also enjoyed playing games and cards.
On August 3, 2012 Jerry passed away in the comfort of his home in San Diego, California. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Betty Harmon; daughters, Karen Comstock and Kristine Harmon; son, Kenneth Harmon; Grandchildren, Krista Merce, Karey Erb, Robyn Ventura, Jason Erb, Ryan Harmon, Tylor Harmon and Bradley Harmon; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Harmon, Carter Harmon, Hazel Ventura, Henry Ventura, Catalina Merce, Rosalie Ventura and the soon to be newest addition to the family, Dexter Erb who is to arrive on December 2, 2012.
