Julia “Beth” Culpeper, 63, of Escondido passed away Friday January 15th, 2016 after a long battle with extensive health issues. Her last breath was taken at Sharp Memorial Hospital surrounded by the love of family and friends, including her best friend of 48 years Cindy Barrios-Dapice and her beloved fiancé Olen Hood.
Beth was born in Paterson, New Jersey on November 15, 1952, the youngest daughter of Joseph and Julia Keyes. She is survived by her older sister Kathleen “Kady” Clark, who she never called anything but “Sister”; was the proud and loving mother of two sons Joseph and Jess Culpeper, and three adoring step-children Steven, Stacey and Crystal Lawton; and two beautiful nieces Amber and Vanessa Clark. The absolute light of her life was her two year old grandson, Elias James Culpeper.
Beth loved being surrounded by her family and friends, and spending time cuddling with her two little doggies. She was a kind, gentle, and loving person who was hysterically funny, and could make you laugh until your face hurt. The holidays were her favorite time, when everyone gathered at a family member’s home to celebrate, where each person brought their own special dish – and you could always count on Beth to bring the olives!!
Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 5th, 2016 at 1pm in Oak Hill Memorial Park, 2640 Glen Ridge Rd., Escondido, CA 92027. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Beth’s name to: Rancho Coastal Humane Society, 389 Requeza Street, Encinitas, CA 92024; sdpets.org; (760) 753-6413; [email protected]
