

Yvonne Marie Benoit Griffitts passed away on October 31, 2012 in Stockton. She was born in Eureka, CA on September 19, 1946 to Lucien and Elfreda Benoit. She attended Franklin Elementary, and Eureka Junior and Senior High and College of the Redwoods. She is survived by her son, Brian(Tammy), her grandchildren, Amy Circe(Adam), Michelle Robinson(James), and Dillon, Dalton and Danielle Griffitts, and her great-grandchildren, Shyniesa. Tyleea, Aiden, Kaliyah and Nehemiah. She is also survived by her sister, Arlene Hartin, nephew John Hartin, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob Griffitts, sons Bob, Jr. and Dennis, great granddaughter, Kaydence, and brother-in-law, Bill Hartin.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, her dogs and cats, genealogy, needlework, and travelling. She and her husband Bob enjoyed attending special events and seeing places and family around California. She also went on several trips in the United States and Canada with her Mother and joined her sister attending history conferences in California. While in Eureka she worked at Daly’s, then after the family moved to Stockton, she worked at Montgomery Ward and Smart and Final.
She enjoyed decorating her home, finding just the right items to make it pretty and comfortable. As the grandchildren came along, she added a great selection of children’s furniture, toys and videos so they had fun at grandmother’s house. She also enjoyed going to the kid’s movies with her family, having fun interacting with the grandchildren.
She was a long time member of the Runeberg Lodge in Eureka and a member of the Society of Humboldt County Pioneers, the Humboldt County Historical Society and the Conference of California Historical Societies. She enjoyed working on the family genealogy and found several relatives in Sweden and Finland. She developed friendships with them, emailing back and forth and sending Christmas cards.
Services for Yvonne will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 11:00 am. at Ocean View Chapel in Eureka.
