She was born on March 6, 1936 in Morgantown, Kentucky and moved to Evansville, Indiana. She spent many years managing her restaurants, Ann’s Place, before dedicating 25 years of service at General Foods. Above all else, she cherished the time she enjoyed with her loved ones and built her life around family.
Deeply rooted in family, she was known by many as the “matriarch”, a title she carried with pride. Ann was defined by her selflessness, always putting others before herself and making sure no one ever left her home hungry, unheard, or unloved.
Saturday nights at her house were something special — an endless pot of coffee, guitars and voices filling the home, children running freely, and an open invitation to all who walked through the door.
Ann loved her two daughters, Debra Beck (Alan) and Marilyn Dix (Dan); daughter-in-law Caroline Phillips; sister, Thelma Phelps; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and seventeen great-great-grandchildren, all unconditionally. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl Phillips; her sons, Anthony and Michael; one grandson; five sisters, and one brother, whom she held close to her heart always.
A celebration of Ann’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, Evansville, IN officiated by Pastor John Eaton. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Linda E. White Hospice House for taking exceptional care of Ann in her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to Linda E. White Hospice House in honor of Ann Phillips.
Ann’s journey has ended, but the stories, laughter, and love she shared will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her.
