God saw Arden getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around him and whispered “Come with Me.” After many years of enduring various illnesses Arden was called home by his Lord and Savior on May 11, 2025, just 24 days short of his 77th birthday. Life for Arden began in Webster, SD. Due to his father’s military career the family spent time in Germany when Arden was a child. He had fond memories of that time as well as time stationed in Kentucky and Indiana. South Dakota was where he spent several summers visiting on the family farms. Arden served also as a Specialist 4 in the U. S. Army from 8/5/1968 to 8/4/1971 in Romulus, NY at Senica Army Depot. He and his high school sweetheart were married there and in 1970 had their first child, Angela. They returned to Evansville, IN after an honorable discharge and that is where their son, Daniel, was born. At this time Arden began his career as a truck driver and didn’t retire until 2015. In 1986 he met Janice, and they were married in 1995. They enjoyed traveling and ministering with the Christian Motorcycle Association on their motorcycles for many years. Being a kid at heart led Arden to enjoy many activities, he loved golfing, fishing, playing billiards, cards and board games, but most of all he loved playing with and entertaining his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even the children in the neighborhood. Gaining him the nickname of “Bestie” from his great-granddaughter Amira. Even when grown they still have wonderful memories of Papaw or Grandpaw as he was to many playing with them for hours on end. This was what filled his heart and theirs with wonderful joy.
Arden’s education started in a one room school in Aberdeen, SD with his grandma Frances as his teacher. He went on to attend schools in Kentucky, Germany and Indiana. Baker, Columbia, the original Central High School, graduating in 1968 and later attending Lockyear Business School, are the schools he attended in Evansville. Arden loved to share stories about his 1956 Chevy Belaire (Red and White) and his 1971 VW convertible and his 1965 Chevy 4 speed super sport Impala. Not only was Arden a “fun guy” he was loved for his kind heart, sincere and genuine concern for others. He had the ability to keep others on their toes with his quick wit. Arden loved Pastor Carl Mann and his church family. His passion for God, family and friends with his laughter and smile will live on in our hearts and memories forever.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Omar Bien; mother, June Darlene (Atkinson) Bien; and sister, Linda Green.
