

Barbara was born to Rudolph and Marjorie (Cummins) Greubel in 1940 in Vincennes. She graduated from St. Rose Academy in 1958. She went on to study nursing at St. Anthony’s School of Nursing in Terre Haute, and graduated with the class of 1961. Barbara worked as a registered nurse at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was retired at the time of her death.
Barbara was an extraordinarily generous person, helping her patients, friends, family, and strangers with an open heart. She loved art, and was an accomplished painter, as well as making beautiful glass bead mosaics. She also enjoyed gardening.
Barbara was an animal lover. She made a home for many different pets throughout her life, with a special love for cats. Her cats were her beloved companions.
She is survived by her children, Kim (Chris) Barron of Evansville, and Greg Layman of Carmel. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Ellen (Bill) Coates of Evansville, grandchildren, niece and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 3, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Alexander East Chapel. A private funeral service will be held.
