

In the earlier years of her life she was a time keeper at Faultless Caster where she met her husband Albert. She later worked at General Foods. She was a member of Bethel Temple for 26 years and sang in the choir and was in the Living Christmas Tree celebration. She worked sending miscellaneous boxes to missionaries in Taejon Korea for 20 years and also sent boxes to missionaries in Mexico. She was a member of Bible Center Cathedral for 28 years, was their Director of Senior Citizens for 11 years, in the Ladies Sunday School class and the prayer band. Betty made a pilgrimage to Israel in 1982 with her husband and church family.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Albert Wimpelberg; sisters, Esther Heneison and Ruth Yates, Cecilia Thomas; brothers, Irvin, Jerome, James and Russell Thomas; and grandson Gerald Smith, Jr.
She is survived by her son, Kevin (Johnamie) Wimpelberg daughter, Catherine (Jerry) Garrett; grandsons, David (Holly) Smith, Aaron (Brittney) Wright, Nathan Wright, and Kyle Wimpelberg of West Palm Beach, FL; great-grandchildren, Katlin Smith, Grace Smith, Asia Wright, Aviri Wright, Kenley Wright, and Blake Wainman all of Evansville.
A special thank you to her niece Linda Kempf, nephew Michael Yates, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Thomas, Heritage Hospice and all the other caregivers that helped care for Betty.
Funeral Services are 10:00 AM Friday June 12, 2015, at Bible Center Cathedral, 5000 N. 1st Avenue, officiated by Pastor Rick Van Hoose, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Thursday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road and 9:00 AM until service time Friday at the church.
