

Bradley Ward Laufer, Sr., 73, of Evansville, Indiana, died at 5:30 AM, Friday, August 31, 2012, at his home. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, on October 29, 1938, he was the youngest of three children born to Florence Laufer (Hardin) and John C. Laufer, Sr., who preceded him in death.
Mr. Laufer graduated from Louisville du Pont Manual High School in 1956. He was an Eagle Scout with Troop 17 of St. Elizabeth in Louisville, KY. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960.
Brad worked at General Electric Appliance Park in Louisville from 1960 to 1976 where he served a three year Tool & Die Apprenticeship and then worked various plastics related fields for the remaining years. While working at General Electric, he attended the University of Louisville and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics in 1969.
In 1976, Mr. Laufer and his family relocated to Evansville where he accepted a position with Wabash Plastics, Inc. Brad was the president of the Society of Plastics Engineers from 1984-1985. Brad retired from Wabash Plastics, Inc. in 1996 as VP Sales Engineering. After retirement he continued to stay active, doing Plastics Engineering project work for various companies. He enjoyed home projects as well, designing and building things for his home and also for others.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn M. Reichenbach (Laufer) of Louisville, KY on May 2, 1983.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Jana Laufer; sons, Bradley Laufer, Jr., of Louisville, KY, Brett W. Laufer of Evansville, Brian Laufer (Joni) of South Lake, TX, Blaine W. Laufer of Evansville and Bruce Laufer (Kris) of Evansville; daughter, Michelle Hudson (Perry) of Washington, IN; stepsons, Adam Walts of Greenwood, IN, Ryan Walts of Evansville, Kyle Walts of Evansville; brother, John C. Laufer, Jr. of Louisville, KY; nine grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 600 Herndon Drive, officiated by Fr. John Breidenbach. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Alexander North Chapel.
