Obituary of Chandrakant M. Shah
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shri Chandrakant Maganlal Shah, a beloved figure in the community, who peacefully departed on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Encompass Health in Newburgh, IN. He was 86 years old. Born in India on March 5, 1938, Chandrakantbhai lived a life guided by the noble principles of Jainism. Chandrakantbhai embarked on his journey of service early in life, initially as a bookstore owner. His establishment wasn't merely a place of commerce; it was a sanctuary for young minds hungry for knowledge. Recognizing the financial constraints faced by many children, he generously lent books, fostering a love for learning among those who couldn't afford it. Through this endeavor, he not only supported his own family but also empowered countless youngsters with the gift of education. In 1961, Chandrakantbhai joined the esteemed Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) as a Development Officer. Throughout his illustrious career, spanning until his retirement in 1996, he consistently ranked among the top performers at the Western Zone office of LIC. His dedication and excellence were recognized in 1985 when he was honored as the 5th best officer nationwide, a remarkable feat considering he outperformed counterparts in much larger cities. Beyond his professional achievements, Chandrakantbhai endeared himself to his clients, becoming a trusted advisor and confidant to many. Known for his compassion and generosity, Chandrakantbhai touched countless lives in his native Valsad and beyond. His doors were always open, his table always set, welcoming anyone in need with warmth and kindness. In 1986, Chandrakantbhai visited the United States for the first time, captivated by its educational opportunities, work ethic, and lifestyle. Determined to secure a brighter future for his descendants, he laid the groundwork for his youngest son, Hemang, to establish roots in the US. His vision and perseverance paved the way for his children and grandchildren to thrive in a new land, fulfilling his dream of providing them with the highest level of education and opportunity. Chandrakantbhai is survived by his devoted wife, Smt. Kalavatiben Shah; his three sons, Rajiv (Falguni), Kamlesh (Ami), and Hemang (Darshana); his daughters, Sonal (Pragnesh) and Rupal (Suketu); as well as ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
