

Charles Spencer Hernandez “Chico”, 84, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025. He was born March 31, 1940 in Leesville, LA and was Active-Duty Marine Corps serving during the time of the Vietnam War. He also retired from Whirlpool after 40-plus years of service. He was an avid poker player, solitaire player, fisherman and avid gun collector. He also loved an ice-cold glass of Crown and Coke and tending a garden full of okra.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma and father, Joseph; brother, Joe; sister, Patricia; his first wife, Patricia Hernandez and second wife, Sharon Hernandez; and a son, Troy Hernandez.
He is survived by a son, Tony Hernandez (Tiffany); daughter, Christina Bland Dugger (Darin); daughter-in-law, Robin Hernandez; sister, Linda Wetzel (David); grandchildren, Ashley Croft (Russ), Amy Williams (Adam), Chuck Hernandez (Jessica), Angel Mizerak (Tanner), Harley Hernandez, Christian Bond, and Allie Hernandez; and nine great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street. Evansville, IN officiated by Pastor Greg Hitchcock.
Entombment will follow at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery where Military Honors will be performed by Kapperman American Legion Post # 44.
Friends may visit on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
