Obituary of Dr. Charles E. Kendall Jr.
Charles ("Chuck") Kendall, age 66, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home on May 1, 2022. A faithful husband, devoted father, and adoring "Pops," his death is felt deeply by those who loved him. Chuck was born on June 23, 1955, at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, to the late Charles Kendall, Sr., and Sarah Kendall. He grew up in Evansville, Indiana, and attended Bosse High School, the University of Evansville, and Indiana University School of Dentistry. Chuck returned to practice dentistry in Evansville for 40 years. He also volunteered at IMPACT Ministries and frequently traveled overseas to provide dental and spiritual care in Uganda, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Honduras, and Belize. The authentic relationships he formed with patients and coworkers made work a source of true joy throughout his career. He was a long-term member of Christian Fellowship Church where he served on the missions board for many years. He will be remembered by friends and family for his quick wit, sense of humor, competitiveness, and strong convictions. In his retirement, Chuck enjoyed playing pickleball and golf with friends, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and living daily life alongside his sweetheart and best friend, Debbie. While Chuck will be fiercely missed by his family and friends, they find peace in the fact that his ultimate hope was in the Lord for salvation and eternal life. Although his family feels he is gone too soon, he often expressed he didn't fear death because of his assurance of heaven. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of nearly 44 years, Debbie Kendall. Together they have four daughters: Emily (Matt Landreman) Kendall, Kathryn (Ryan) Veldhuizen, Kara (Aaron) Rohner, and Ellen (Kameron) Baker. His ten grandchildren (Ada and Simon Landreman; Zane, Karis, Kayleigh, and Zeke Veldhuizen; Griffin and Theo Rohner; and Kaden and Kendall Baker) were some of the greatest joys of his life, and "Pops" was one of his most cherished titles. Chuck is also survived by his mother, Sarah Kendall, and his sister, Claudia (Jeff) Young. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 13 2022 at Christian Fellowship Church, officiated by Pastor David Niednagel. Friends and family may visit from 9:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christian Fellowship Church missions (onlinecfc.com/give), Operation Mobilization for Ukraine (www.omusa.org), and Evansville Christian Health Center (evansvillehealthclinic.com).
