He retired from Indiana Bell after 32 years and his retirement he was a driver for Don’s Pharmacy for 10 years. Charles was a US Marine Corps Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post #2953, American Legion Post #230, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Hadi Shrine Temple.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Callie Townsend; three sisters, Shirley “Bea” and Roberta; and two brothers, Ralph and Clifford.
He is survived by his son, Brad Carter; grandsons, Bradley and Justin Carter; brother, Lloyd Townsend; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, June 24, 2011, at Alexander East Chapel with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery with military honors. Friends may visit Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM, and Friday from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
