

Claude Maurice Wilder, 95, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at River Pointe Health Campus. He was born November 18, 1921, in Newburgh, to the late Earl F. and Ruby M. (Lowrance) Wilder, Sr.
He retired from the US Post Office after 34 years and was a commander of the Air Force Reserve in Evansville. He was in the US Army Air Corps on active duty from 1942 to 1946 and then went into the Air Force Reserves until 1964. Claude was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Evansville, the Newburgh Masonic Lodge, and Evansville Hadi Shrine. He enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the United States, as well as volunteering for the Red Cross delivering blood to facilities in need.
Claude was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Madeline J. Wilder; son, David Wilder; and brothers, Earl J., Frank, and John Wilder.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Wilder; daughter-in-law, Susan Wilder; grandchildren, Jill, Daniel, and Amy Wilder; great-grandchildren, Madison, Hunter, and Ashton; “adopted” daughter, Aumpai Holt; nieces, Linda (Bill) Gilbert and Beverly (Kenny) Broadhead; and best buddy, Jenny Williams.
