Donald R. Gross, 99, of Evansville passed away September 14, 2022. He was born April 26, 1923 in Evansville to the late Oscar and Marie (Issac) Gross.
He graduated from Central High School in 1941 and went on to work at International Steel, Traylor Brothers and Industrial Contractors as an engineer. He was a long time member of Salem Church of Darmstadt, and helped to design and oversee the building of the Fellowship Hall. Don was an active member of the Senior Group and also taught Sunday School. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Scott Civic Club. In his later years, Don missed bowling, playing softball, and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Gross.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Sylvia Gross; sons, John Gross (Donna) and Kirby Gross; daughter, Sara Rombola (Greg); grandchildren, Lauren Piekos (Chris), Lisa Gross, Diana Rombola, Michael Rombola, and Melissa Rombola; great grandchild, Elliott Piekos; cousin, Marilyn McCall; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2022 at Salem Church of Darmstadt, officiated by Rev. David Peterson. Friends and family may visit from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
