Donna F. Blackford, age 75, of Evansville, Indiana passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022 at SolarBron in Evansville, IN. She was born in Owensboro, KY on September 14, 1946 to the late Stanley M and Margaret L (Taylor) Allen.
Donna was a 1964 graduate of Hancock County High School and went on to attend Western Kentucky University where she graduated in 1968. Donna majored in Home Economics and was a member of the Phi Mu sorority house. She worked for many years at Deaconess Hospital in the business office before taking a job with the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation where she retired in 2015.
Donna was a talented artist and enjoyed participating in numerous local craft shows over the years. She also loved quilting and sewing. Donna was an avid reader and enjoyed her women's book club. She was an active member of Simpson United Methodist Church for over 25 years.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Terry Allen.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Gisler (John), Evansville, IN and Angela Hodges (Chad), Brownsburg, IN; son, Christopher Blackford (Miranda), Ypsilanti, MI; and grandchildren, Lauren and Jillian Mehne and Aiden Hodges.
There will be a memorial service at 5:00 PM on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Alexander West Chapel, Evansville, IN. Reverends Kenny Armitage and Dennis Adams will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time on Monday evening. A brief graveside ceremony for friends and family will be held at Owensboro Memorial Gardens at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 where Donna will be laid to rest.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Donna's caregivers at SolarBron for all of their kind and compassionate care during her stay.
