Edith “Eadie” (Watson) Knaebel, 90, of Evansville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September, 19, 2010, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital, while holding the hand of her daughter. Her joy was leading a simple life and being a devoted wife and mother. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
During her life, between 1973 and 2003, she also touched the lives of hundreds of Evansville children as the founder and primary caregiver at Eadie’s Daycare. She specialized in caring for pre-school-aged children, and this no-doubt kept her young in heart and spirit.
Eadie was a member of the Washington Avenue Church of Christ for 45 years, where she was a Sunday School teacher for a portion of that time, and even into her 80’s she gave rides to church to other widows.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Knaebel; son, Donald Knaebel; mother and father, Nora and Jacob Watson; brothers, Robert and Walter Watson; sisters, Doris (Watson) Leach, Ruth (Watson) Traylor, and Edna (Watson) Martz.
Eadie is survived by her daughter, Karen (Knaebel) Bee and husband, Austin; also Francis Knaebel and wife, Carol; grandchildren, Tamie Knaebel, Scott Knaebel, Mark Bee, and Debra Knaebel; and great-grandchildren, Tori Knaebel and Dylan Knaebel.
Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Stephen Rogers, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
