

Edward (Leo) McGregor, 85, known as Leo to those that loved him passed away Friday, May 9, 2014, at St. May’s Medical Center. He was born October 30, 1928 in Dalton, Kentucky to William Edward & Alene Franklin.
He grew up on the family farm and joined the Army where he served on the front line of the Korean Conflict. After completing his military service, he moved to Evansville working for Chrysler until they moved to MO, at which time he went to work for Whirlpool.
After 30 years of employment with Whirlpool, Leo retired to travel. He and his wife traveled to all 50 states, Canada Nova-Scotia as well as two mission trips to Mexico. His most enjoyable trip was to Israel where he walked the same paths as Jesus. Leo also loved gospel quartet music even taking a gospel music cruise to the Bahamas. He has been a member of Methodist Temple for 54 years serving in multiple volunteer roles in all aspects of the church. Leo was very proud of his membership in Reed Masonic Lodge No. 316 where he served as Chaplain for many years, additionally he was a member of the Scottish Rite. He was a devoted active member of Tres Dias for 25 years and was a dedicated volunteer for many organizations such as RSVP, EVV Food Bank, and Methodist Temple.
Leo is preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Don McGregor.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn (Lietz); son, Michael Edward McGregor (Teena). Leo adored his three granddaughters, Olivia of Atlanta, GA, Isabella and Michaela of Evansville. Additional survivors include brother Raymond of Pacific, MO; Betty Lietz sister-in-law; step grandchildren Matthew Holzmeyer (Kelly), Krystal Ungethiem (Andrew) all of Evansville, and step great grandchildren Landon and Brady plus numerous cousins, nieces, and nephew. His love of his family was only exceeded by his love for the Lord.
Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Methodist Temple United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Steve Beutler, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park where military rites will be conducted. Friends may visit Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM with a Masonic Service being conducted at 6:30 PM and Wednesday from 9:00 to Noon at Alexander East Chapel.
