

Elvera (Kramer) Martin-Esche, age 91 of Noblesville, IN (former resident of Mt. Vernon, IN) died Christmas evening at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Carmel, IN. She will be missed by her family and her many friends.
She was born May 2, 1921 to Henry Jr. and Augusta Dora (Lurker) Kramer. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Posey County. She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Reverend Elmer C. Martin and Edward Esche, sisters Lorena Eckerty-Miller and Louise Kuebler, brothers Elmer A. Kramer , Earl R. Kramer, Son Elmer R. Martin, daughter-in-law Rebecca (Moll) Martin and Granddaughter Jennifer Martin.
She is survived by a Son David E. (Judy) Martin of Noblesville, Stepsons, David (Kathy) Esche of Mt. Vernon, Kenneth Esche of Wadesville, Six grandchildren Melanie (Howard) Crouch, Michael Martin, Melissa (Aaron) Hancock, Dana Frentz, Molly (Kurt) Kozyra, Erin (Kevin) McKoon. Step Grandchildren Paul (Erica) Esche, Nathan (Andrea) Esche and Justin Esche. Great Grandchildren Hunter and Emma Crouch, Madeline Martin, Jackson, Keaton and Ashton Hancock, Jacob and Jordan Matthews and Savannah McKoon. Step Grandchildren, Olivia, Roman and Allison Esche. A sister Clara Mae Schenck and Sister-in-law Lucille Kramer.
She worked part-time as a secretary in the churches that she and her late husband Elmer C. Martin served in the former Evansville District. While living in Newburgh she wrote for the Newburgh Register. She was a life member of the United Methodist Women, member of Friends ‘N Such Extension Home Makers Club, where she served as President for two years. She worked as a volunteer counselor at Santa Claus church camp for 20 years. She served her community by collecting for Food Pantries, Cancer Fund, visited Nursing Homes, served as Vanderburg County 4-H Fair watcher, teaching Sunday Church School and Vacation Bible School. She loved to sew and make quilts for her children, grand children, great grandchildren and friends.
Services will be 11:00AM, Monday, December 31, 2012, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Friends may visit, Sunday from 2:00PM until 6:00PM at Alexander West Chapel. Burial will be at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Cemetery, St. Phillips Road, Mt. Vernon, IN.
In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contribution be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church or St. Paul’s United Methodist Cemetery Fund.
