Emma “Irene” Buttram, 93, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Evansville Protestant Home. She was born January 28, 1919, in Leopold, IN to the late William and Emma (Miller) Genet.
During WWII she worked at Briggs as a riveter building airplane wings. After the war she went to beauty school, obtained her license and worked a short time prior to starting her family. Irene loved spending time with family and hearing stories about her grandchildren.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Lee Buttram; brothers, Ray, Floyd, Herman and Russell Genet; and sisters, Gladys Polk and Lois Dahn.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Buttram (Dana) of Evansville; daughter, Susan Addington (Brian) of Evansville; grandchildren, Christopher and Valerie Buttram, Lisa Hancock (Josh) and Brad Addington (Amanda); great-grandchildren, Kaylee Baker, Maggie Addington and Zachary LaForrest.
Services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Alexander East Chapel, with entombment in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel.
