Evelyn Joyce Hardin Giannini

Evelyn Joyce Giannini, 88, of Evansville, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016, surrounded by family members at the Pine Haven Health and Rehabilitation. She was born February 17, 1928, in Evansville, to the late Arthur and Pauline Hardin.

After Washington Elementary School, she graduated from Bosse High school, and then attended Evansville College. She retired from Nussmeier Engraving Company in May of 1990 after 20 years of service. Additionally, she was an active member of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA). Evelyn enjoyed solving daily crossword puzzles, but her most enjoyable activity was crocheting “scrubbies” for her family and friends. She also enjoyed her computer, playing games, and especially emailing with her friends. Her youthful attitude toward life was demonstrated when at the age of 85 she was entered as a contestant in a beauty contest at USI and actually won the Miss Congeniality Award.

She married James W. Giannini on January 22, 1948 and remained married for 47 years until his death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Hardin and his wife, Evelyn.

Evelyn is survived by her son, James A. (Joan) Giannini of CA; daughter, Joyce (Richard) Lewallen of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Richard E. Lewallen, Brian R. Lewallen, Jeffrey A. Giannini, and Jessica D. Giannini; great-grandchild, Addison Lewallen; niece, Jane (Hardin) Demontte; nephew, Arthur Hardin II; one great-niece and three great-nephews.

Per Evelyn’s request, there will be no visitation or services.
