He was preceded in death by his father, Gary; and brother, Mark.
Joe is survived by his son, Michael Boatman; daughter, Leslie Banks; parents, Jean and Ron Morell; grandchildren, Kaylee, Starr, Angel, Victor, Ryan and Lynn; sisters, Vanessa Boatman, Karen Boatman; brother, Mike Boatman (Tracy); sisters, Angie Elrod (Charlie) and Tina Boatman; brother, Alexander Morell; sister-in-law, Sandra Boatman step-brothers, Ronnie and Phillip Embry; and many nieces and nephews.
Known by many as Big Joe, he served in the U.S. Army and was a big Indianapolis Colts fan.
Funeral Services will be held 1:30 PM, Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Alexander West Chapel with burial in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit 10:30 AM until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
