Helen "Ellie" Elgene Nolen

Helen Elgene “Ellie” Nolen, 98, of Evansville, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025 at West River Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on October 6, 1926 in Elberfeld, IN to the late Alfred and Minnie (Silkie) Kohlmeyer.

Ellie retired from SIGECO after more than 40 years. She was a member of the Cynthiana Order of Eastern Star and the Red Hats Society. Ellie was a graduate of Elberfeld High School in 1945.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles O’Neal in 1952 and her second husband, Stanley Gene Nolen in 2008; sisters, Lafern Kohlmeyer and Lucille Lammert; and brothers, Cletus, Austin, Leroy, Carl, William, Herbert and Clenneth.

Ellie is survived by one sister-in-law, Dorothy Kohlmeyer; nieces, Melody Schmitt, Donna Brooks and Donna Kohlmeyer; nephews, Tom, Brad, Mike, Kevin, David and Darin Kohlmeyer; and several great nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, Evansville, officiated by Pastor Gene Backes. Burial will be in Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends and family may visit on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
