Helen A. Thomas, 102, of Evansville, passed on to be with her Lord and Savior at Heart to Heart Hospice facility on Sunday, April 28, 2024. For the last 7 years, Helen lived and loved her home at Solarbron Pointe. She was born in Evansville to Walter Wildt Sr. and Augusta Burgdorf on Dec. 3, 1921.
She was a member of Morningside Church. Helen served as secretary and treasurer of the Bible class for several years, and was on the Hospitality committee. She was a member of the Evansville Toast Mistress Club, Central Turner’s Ladies Auxiliary, and the Eagles Club.
Her hobbies were flower gardening, decorating, cards, dancing, and traveling extensively with her husband. She worked at Indiana Bell Telephone Co., and Southern Bell Telephone Co. in Miami, Florida. Helen also worked at Republic Aviation during World War II. Later, she owned and operated La Flair Beauty Salon.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Bradbury (Ray) of Columbus, IN and Cheril Griswold (Mike) of Mt. Vernon, IN; grandchildren, Ryan Bradbury (Michelle) of Carmel, IN, Tammy Schneider (Justin) of Columbus, IN, Dawn Nall (Jon) of Knoxville TN, Amber Wells (Jared) of Evansville; 7 great-grandchildren, Aiden Bradbury, Noah Bradbury, Ella Wells, Eli Wells, Kaia Nall, Jackson Schneider, and Blake Schneider; and her sweet sister, Evelyn Bernard , of Evansville, who is 104 years old.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, of 63 years, Edmund Thomas; sisters, Lillian Smoker, Edna Winiger, Marguerite Grisham; and brothers, Herbert, Walt, and Victor Wildt.
Memorial contribution may be made to Evansville Rescue Mission and the American Red Cross.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Alexander Memorial Park Heritage Chapel, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, Evansville, IN. Friends and family may visit from 1:00 p.m. until the service begins at the Chapel. Entombment will be at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery.
