Irene Louise Blessing

Irene L. Midle-Blessing, 100, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Evansville Protestant home. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 23, 1919 to the late Arthur H. and Ida (Burkhardt) Anderson. She was educated in Chicago and graduated as an RN from South Shore Hospital in 1941. She served in the Army Nurse Corp from 1943-1945 in England. She was a member of the Order Eastern Star in Illinois for over 70 years; life member of American Legion and VFW, Illinois; Tri-State Women Veterans, Evansville; and Marine Corp League as Associate member, Evansville. She attended her children’s churches at Salem Methodist Church, Old North Methodist Church, North Haven Baptist Church, and Abundant Faith Pentecostal Church. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church (USA) and was an elder in Charleston, Illinois. Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Ben Blessing (2010); brother, Raymond Anderson (2000); and granddaughter, Donna Voges (2007). She is survived by her sons, Arthur (Mary Beth) Midle, and Paul (Barb) Midle; daughters, Laura (Tom) Fritz, and Kathy (Jack) Schernekau all of Evansville; God Child, Ruth (Troy) Christian of Henderson; step daughter, Veronica (Don) VanAntwerp of Delavan, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, six step grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, twenty step great grandchildren, and Six step great great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held 12:00 p.m., Monday, August 31, 2020 at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Rev. Al Amstutz will be officiating. The Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites at the cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
