He served in the US Army during Vietnam and had worked at Craddock Finishing. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved gardening.
James was preceded in death by his twin brother, Jerry DeWeese.
He is survived by his daughter, Sarah DeWeese; son, James (Candis) DeWeese, Jr.; grandson, Marcos Nicolas DeWeese; brother, Robert DeWeese; sisters, Pat Caldemeyer and Sharon (Bob) Kleeman; half-sister, Fran Hartweck; half-brother, Joey Hartweck; nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 6:00 PM Thursday, November 13, 2014, at Alexander West Chapel. Friends may visit Thursday from 4:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
