

He worked at the former Welborn Hospital in maintenance until he retired. His hobbies were collecting coins, watching wrestling & baseball, playing cards & fishing. He was a life member of the Owls.
He was born April 3, 1932 in Evansville, IN to the late Charles & May (Meece) Harp.
He is survived by one son, James Alan Harp (Beth); two daughters, Peggy Irene Perry (Mark) and Judy Lynn Campbell (Scott); one stepson, Ronald Lee Higgs; two stepdaughters, Cynthia Ann Wongngamnit (Suchai) and Pamela Dean Higgs; and one step-daughter-in-law, Vickie Lynn Higgs all of Evansville, IN.
Also surviving are 2 granddaughters, Amber Dawn Smith (Bill) and Samantha Marie Harbison & her companion Matt; three grandsons, Michael Joseph Milburn (Tina), Tyler Dean Perry and Gregory Scott Harp (Kendall), thirteen step-granddaughters, Kaitlyn Campbell, Tammy Marie Williams (Wayne), Windy Kay Higgs & her companion Herb, Melissa Jo Kennady (Mark), Bobby Lee Williams (Greg), Bailey Christina Higgs, Miranda Lee Anna Higgs, Ronnie Lee Higgs, Hannah Brooke Higgs, Sabra Halen Higgs, Chinda Wongngamnit (Andrew Healy), Kerry Ann Johnson & her fiancé Shawn, and KC Lara (Rogello); five step-grandsons, Jordan Campbell, Narin Wongngamnit, MD, David Wayne Johnson (Michelle), Andrew Cole Johnson (Kristie), Dale Eugene Higgs, Jr. (Katie) and Jeremy Michael Wade. There are also two great-granddaughters, three great-grandsons, seventeen great-step-granddaughters, and sixteen great step-grandsons.
Other survivors are four sisters, Shirley Ann Floyd, Carolyn Sue Robb, Francis Vlaholeas, Betty Jane Dato (Joseph), two brothers, Ronnie Gene Harp (Angie) and John Harp (Francis), nineteen nieces, nine nephews, three step-nephews, two great nieces, one great nephew, great-great nieces, great-great nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Harp. They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary, July 16, 2010. He was also preceded in death by a step-son, Dale Higgs, Sr., his parents Charles & May Harp, his stepmother, Beulah Harp, six sisters, six brothers, a nephew, two nieces, his mother-in-law & her husband, eight brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be Friday, January 6, 2012 from 2:00pm-8:00pm. Alexander West Chapel will be handling the arrangements. Brother Raymond Abbott will be officiating. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11:00AM. Friends may visit from 10:00AM until the funeral. James will be cremated and then entombed at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery.
