James “Tom” McGill, 83, of Chandler, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Golden Living Center Woodlands. He was born November 6, 1930, in Clay, KY, to the late Ellis C. and Thelma (Herron) McGill.
Tom served in the US Navy and LAPD, as well as the aircraft industry. He returned to Kentucky, where he owned and operated McGill’s Market. After retiring with over 25 years in new car sales, Tom worked part-time at Sears and Wolfe’s Auto Auction. He was instrumental in starting the Kentucky Travelers Motorcycle Association.
Tom was preceded in death by his brothers, Gaylon, Paul Ray and Billy McGill.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dot McGill; daughters, Donna Jones and Sandy Hanes; sons, Dale, Jack, and Jerry McGill; sister, Anita Acker; brother, Ron McGill; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and other family members.
