James Melvin West

He was a graduate of Reitz High School Class of 1954. Jim served as past president of UA Local #136 and was a member of their service committee. He was also a member of St. Paul’s German Township UCC, Reitz Men’s Club, Riverbend Association and Darmstadt Retirees. Jim was a Mason with Cynthiana Masonic Lodge and a Hadi Shriner, where he served as Hospital Staff Captain. He also served as German Township’s Water District President.

Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janice (Oschman) West; children, Deborah (Jon) Kixmiller, Cynthia (Mike) Kendall, Kimberly (Michael) Persinger and Jeffrey (Stacy) West; grandchildren, Benjamin (Alex) Kixmiller, Elizabeth Kixmiller, Eric (Ariel) Kendall, Adam (Katie) Kendall, Meredeth Persinger, Raylin (James) West, Madalyn West, Brooklyn West, Cassie (Marcus) Bagwell and Carly Kaufman; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Wanda Lauterbach, Judith West, Michael (Fran) West, Becky (Charles) Manion, Beverly Kitch and Bill West.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Fr. Ted Tempel, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. A Masonic service will take place Wednesday at 7:30 PM, at Alexander West Chapel, led by a hospital staff walk through.
