Janet (Hartweck) Payne, 79, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born January 28, 1939, in Evansville, IN to the late Herman J. and Esther (Berg) Hartweck.
She graduated from Mater Dei High School and formerly worked in food service management before retiring from Cintas. Janet loved North High School and UK basketball, boating and river life, and spending time with her family.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Herman J. and Ester Hartweck; grandson, Tanner Vaught; and brother, Allen Hartweck.
She is survived by her life partner, Robert E. West, and son, Robert D. West; sons, Steven Payne (Karen), Scott Payne and Tim Payne (Misty); daughters, Tammy Vaught, Angela Payne and Julie Payne; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tom Hartweck and Herman Hartweck, Jr. (Judy); and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 7:00 PM Friday, May 11, 2018, at Alexander East Chapel, with burial in St. Joseph Church Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit Friday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
