IN THE CARE OF
Alexander Funeral Home-West Chapel
Janis M. Bottomley (Ary), 72, slipped into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday March 1 after a brief battle with cancer.
Janis and Bob shared a passion for nature, beloved pets, gardening, love of church including caring for and encouraging others. Janis attended Harrison High School and the University of Evansville, where she was a majorette at both, also participating in several beauty contests. Janis was employed at both Welborn Hospital and Welborn Clinic and was an office manager for several doctors. She loved to work with Bob in their aquaponics greenhouse and herb garden, adding to the enjoyment of cooking for her family. Janis had many experiences hunting with her birds of prey through the sport of falconry where she did well in national and state competitions. Janis and Bob co-authored a book on falconry in 1970. Together, they also built a sleek gull-winged sports car. In addition, they enjoyed years of camping and horseback riding. She will be greatly missed as she touched many lives, and in heaven she will see old friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Deforest "Jay" and Evelyn (Dixon) Ary.
Janis is survived by a close and loving family: dear husband and lifelong companion Bob (Robert M) of 53 years, sons Mark (Bobbi Jo), David (Heather); grandchildren Colton (Morgan), Sophia, Hunter, and Grayson; great grandchildren Klaire and Reagan; brothers Ron (Judy), and Don (Debbie); also family Lana (Dave) Heady.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019 at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Mike Pyle, with burial to follow. Friends and family may visit Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Eagle’s View Church, 333 S. Boehne Camp Road.
