First and foremost, Mom lived for her Lord and her family. She demonstrated God's unconditional love as the best mom, mother-in-law, grandma, mamaw, nene, Gma, Jeanie and friend. She joyfully participated in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities. Jean always wanted to look her best and had a vast assortment of clothes, shoes, jewelry and purses to prove it. She enjoyed shopping for the perfect Hallmark ornament for each family member at Christmas.
Jean worked at the Pentagon at the age of 19 and then went on to work for Whirlpool for five years. Following the birth of her children, she operated an in-home daycare for 32 years caring for 175 kids. Jean cherished her daycare kids and treated them as family: homemade spaghetti, four cookies, kool-aid, lunchtime prayer, singing Jesus Loves Me and summer Bible school. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed showing her love for her family and friends by feeding them. Jean was also known for baking and decorating wedding and birthday cakes. She enjoyed playing games, and was known as the Scrabble queen. Jean never met a stranger, and she shared her love for the Lord with everyone. She was an active member of Howell General Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she served the Lord in the choir, as the Sunday School secretary and in the Queen Esther Missionary Society. She also participated in Bible Study Fellowship for over 20 years where she made many cherished christian friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Leroy Royster, in June 2021; and her siblings, Beth Goldman, Ruby Evans (Verner), and Ray Pierce (Joan).
Jean is survived by her son, Keith Royster (Lori); daughters, Lisa Holzhausen (Ken), Karen Royster, and Jill Young (David); grandchildren, Jenni Effinger (Corey), Chelsey Steele (Austin), Katie Effinger, Kent Effinger (Christine), Adam Royster (Jenny), Andrew Gross (Laurie), and Allison Gross; great grandchildren, Kellan, Dominic, Delilah, Elliott, and Patrick; and special nephew, Richard Wallace.
