

Joan Lee Harris, 83, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born May 21, 1932, in Loogootee, IN to the late John Pritchard Moore and Agnes Ione (Lee) Moore.
She was formerly employed by Schroeder Wholesale Company. She volunteered at the Boys & Girls Club for many years. Joan was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, where she had been a Cantor since 1985; a member of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America, where she was a past president; and a member of the Washington Square Knots Square Dancing Club. She enjoyed music, needlework, painting, cards, traveling, and reading.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Sandra Ripperger.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Joseph G. Harris, Jr.; daughter, J. Kathleen (Richard E. Jobe) Harris of Evansville; sons, Dr. J. Kim (Kandy Kramer Harris) Harris of Richmond, VA and John K. (Cheryl) Harris of Princeton; sister, Elizabeth Dawn Book of Kingstree, SC; grandchildren, Kalah and Nicholas Hirsch, Loren (William) Pritchett Harrison, Jesse, Joshua, David, and Jacob Harris, and Ali Richmer; great-grandchildren, Rowan Harris, Betzi White, and Danica Hirsch; sister-in-law, Donna (Kenneth) Hedges; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3010 East Chandler Avenue, officiated by Fr. Christopher Droste, with entombment in Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
