Obituary of Joan "Joanie" (Baker) Carnahan
Joan “Joanie” (Baker) Carnahan, 78, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2019. She was born January 31, 1941 in Evansville, to the late Seth and Frieda (Neu) Baker. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. Joanie enjoyed her friends in her Clabber card club, which met for 50 years. She also enjoyed square dancing, music and flower gardening. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She had a special gift of caring for others. Joan was preceded in death by two infant brothers; brother, Jack Lloyd Baker, and nieces, Rebecca Austine Baker and Jacqueline Kay Underhill. The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Waits and the Angels of the 6th Floor East at St. Vincent Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jerry Carnahan; children, Kristi Taylor (George), Deborah (Carnahan) Wilson (Tom), and Jeffrey Carnahan (Morgan); grandchildren, Lauren Fendrich (Caleb), Erin Taylor, Nathan Wilson, Jackson Carnahan, and Phoebe Carnahan; great-grandchildren, Calvin and Claire Fendrich; nephew, Michael Rhymes Baker, cousins and great-nephews. A Celebration Service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, officiated by Rev. Tim Powers and Rev. Danny Walker, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
