Gordon graduated from Harrison High School and the University of Evansville where he was a member of R.O.T.C. After college, he joined his father in the family retail business known as the Baby Shop where he later became President and had also served as the President of the Downtown Merchants Association. He was a member of Rotary Club.
Gordon enjoyed golf with friends, scuba diving and the challenge of duplicate bridge. He was a member of the Evansville Bridge Club and belonged to Bethel UCC where he was baptized and confirmed as a child. He and his daughter, Jill, later became partners in owning and operating Stride Rite Shoes.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Ann (Ritter) Schlundt; devoted daughter, Jill Schlundt-Young; devoted granddaughter, Lola Hill; sister, Robynn Schlundt VanHorne (Bill); niece, Cathy VanHorne; nephew, Will VanHorne; and cousins and their families.
