

John “Turk” Earl Turpin, 81, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, surrounded by family. He was born June 7, 1935, in Evansville, IN to the late John and Alvina (Berning) Turpin.
He was a member of Henderson Church of Christ. John was an animal lover and enjoyed playing softball, golf, basketball, baseball and bowling. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved Tony Stewart. He also enjoyed gardening and cutting grass. John was a family man who loved spending time with those he loved.
John was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Catherine Peaugh.
He is survived by his son, Donnie (Sandy) Turpin; daughters, Lisa (Kevin) Foley and Becky (George) Minton; grandchildren, Derek Tompkins, Amanda Ermling, Jason Lewis, Stephen Kilgore, Cassandra Cox, Haley Turpin and Breeanna Adams; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Georgia Rednour, Bob Turpin, Doris Clark, Norma Sweeney, Jerry Turpin and Peggy Ogg; and companion and friend, Barbara Barr.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, April 24, 2017, at Alexander West Chapel, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
